Description

This session provides an overview of the cycles and timelines of budgeting for schools, and includes discussions of budget procedures and assumptions, including strategic planning and contract/bargaining. Issues associated with budget reductions, including community involvement and staff reductions, will also be covered. This is an in-person event.

A light supper will be provided from 4:00 to 4:30 pm for those attending both certification courses.

This in-person course will be recorded and will be available to be viewed on demand. This will require a different registration.  Registration for the on-demand course will be available when the recording is posted—this should be within one week of the in-person date. Members will then have 90 days to register and view this course for credit toward their certification.

Completion Criteria

To complete this workshop and receive the 3 MASBO and BOSA credits, you must attend no less than 90% of a session to be marked complete, and take the course test after the session is complete. A link to the test can be accessed by clicking on the Completion and Certificate button. A score of 70% or higher on the test is required for successful completion of the course toward your certification program requirements. This session will be recorded for on-demand viewing for 180 days after the original presentation date. Once the session has been viewed live or virtual, you have 30 days to complete your test to put towards certification.

Certification Program Requirements

The Minnesota Association of School Business Officials has established a voluntary certification program for all MASBO members and nonmembers. The courses are designed to train current and prospective school business officials, and offer practical information to assist members in excelling in their profession.

All Certification Courses are open to all members, but an application for the Certification Program must be completed prior to attendance for course participation to apply to the program.
