The past few years have been difficult for public school leaders, whether you lead projects, teams or departments. With a divisive political climate, more public scrutiny on how schools spend their resources, and the eroding support for education, those jobs are more challenging than ever. This program will focus on developing critical coaching skills to transform conversations from distrust to trust to enhance relationships, solve problems and resolve conflicts. By the end of the program participants will be able to:
Each session will incorporate learning, highly interactive discussion, relevant practical activities, and opportunities for risk-taking. In the months between in-person sessions, participants will participate in self-managed community of virtual practice groups which will allow participants an opportunity for discussion on skill progression, practice and assignment where they can learn from each other, develop relationships and create accountability.
FAQ’s
Is this the same as Leadership Academy?
No. Next Level Leadership is a new series that provides specialized leadership skill training and development and is a shorter duration than the Leadership Academy. The first topic offered in this series is “The Leader as Coach.” MASBO will continue to offer the Leadership Academy, and the two programs will alternative every other year.
Who can attend?
This program is open to all MASBO Active members, regardless of position.
Are there any pre-requisites, such as being a Leadership Academy graduate?
There are no pre-requisites, but because the class size is limited, past graduates receive priority registration.
Is this an in-person or virtual session, and will it be recorded?
There are two full-day in-person sessions, one virtual group kick-off session, and three virtual learning community coaching groups. There will also be a final gathering at the 2024 MASBO Annual Conference. Because this program is very interactive, sessions will not be recorded.
Credits
MASBO credits will be issued for attendance at the two in-person sessions, for a total of 12 credit hours.
