Learn how accurate MARSS and transportation reporting can help your district maximize revenue and improve data quality. This session will cover best practices for recording students in MARSS, understanding and measuring data across reporting categories, and accurately reporting transportation information, including routes versus miles. An MDE representative will also provide an overview of the new electronic reporting system, demonstrate the available software and reports, and share strategies for using the data to evaluate and improve reporting accuracy.

Kelly Garvey is with the Minnesota Department of Education, School Finance Division, Student Transportation. She is responsible to administer the pupil transportation program by providing consultation on the aspects of the transportation program. In addition, Kelly develops procedures and forms for reporting of data required of the different types of transportation. She also writes newsletters, memorandums, and handbooks to increase understanding and awareness of the program.
